hindi naman talaga marunong mag-chat ‘yung Lola ko. para maiba lang ang title at para maging interesting.
a few days ago, me and my Lola were eating our dinner. i had the usual, “Sinigang na Hipon”, which she had prepared for me [have I mentioned that she is the BEST COOK in the world?] and she was eating her “Pinangat na Tulingan”. while i was removing the skin of my “Hipon” she was getting something from the refrigerator, it was a bottle of Diet Sarsi [take note, diet ha]. I almost forgot that I bought that bottle a few days ago. then suddenly it was like a trip down memory lane… she started reminiscing about the past… like our usual dinner together…
“naku alam mo ba dati usong-uso ito. “Zarzaparilla” pa nga tawag dito. natatandaan ko noon 1950 ‘yun noong mauso ‘yung “7-up” ang tawag pa nga nung mga tao noon eh “7-ak“. meron pa nga na isang uso noon na softdrink nakalimutan ko lang kung ano…”
btw, my Lola is already 84 years old. I’m just amazed that she still remembers that. she still have a very sharp memory even at her age. she still cooks really good food. wait ’til you’ve tasted her Pansit Bihon matched with Menudong Baboy. *yum*
and before we even finished our dinner, she remembered the name of the other softdrink brand, it was called “Lemonada”.
[P.S. Before writing this blog entry we were watching Pinoy Fear Factor. she puked. it was very funny. it was because the 3 "Participantes" ate live Tarantulas. she even had to change her clothes because there's puke all over it. hahaha. I Love my Lola. :-)]
